Talking About Stories

The more stories you listen to or read, the more exposure your child will have to words. That is critical for early language development. When children listen to new words or phrases, they learn about culture. Every time they hear a new word they get better at understanding words in context, a crucial skill for fluency.

Don’t forget to give your child plenty of time to digest the stories they read. Children need time to understand literature and some of the more complicated ideas or words.
